Barcelona director of football Andoni Zubizarreta has denied that striker David Villa will leave the club during the January transfer window.
Villa, 31, has struggled to regain his place in the Barcelona team after returning from a broken leg that saw him miss six months of last season, and has been linked with a move away from the Catalan giants in recent weeks, with Arsenal supposedly monitoring the Spanish internationals situation.
However, Zubizarreta ruled out a move for Villa and was keen to stress he is still a key member of the Blaugrana squad.
"In January we will keep Villa, the director of football told Canal Plus.
And it is important to remember that Barcelona is a club that habitually does not accept offers for star players in January.
"David is a player that brings goals and intensity to the team.
"Now he has recovered from a serious injury I believe that he is offering a good level on the field.
Villa moved to Barcelona in 2010 for 40 million after five successful years with Valencia.
