Ajaccio sack coach Alex Dupont

Alex Dupont
Ajaccio have sacked head coach Alex Dupont, the club announced on their official website on Monday.

L'Ours find themselves in precarious position as they are in close proximity to the relegation zone and have won just three times in their last 15 games, prompting the management to act quickly.

Ajaccio currently sit 14th, but are just three points away from the relegation spots, and the leaders of the club have decided that Dupont is not the man who can lead them out of this predicament.

"I met with each player and I concluded that there is a clear breakdown between the team and the coach. So I finally decided Alex Dupont will no longer be our trainer," president Alain Orsoni is quoted as saying on the club's official website.

"The situation we have today is totally unacceptable. I am particularly worried by the state of mind of the team, I cannot fi nd the values from which we have traditionally derive our strength.

"I do not sense solidarity, selflessness, commitment and readiness to fight. Those are crucial qualities if we want to stay in the top division."

Orsoni refused to reveal the name of the man to replace Dupont at the helm at Ajaccio, but stated that the new coach will be announced soon.
