Remy refuses to rule out Newcastle switch

Ligue 1 : Loic Rémy (Olympique de Marseille)
Marseille striker Loic Remy has spoken of his admiration for Newcastle United, following rumours linking the forward with a move to St James' Park.

Reports have suggested that the French international is in advanced negotiations with the Magpies, who appear set to be active in the transfer market when the window re-opens in January.

Alan Pardew's side look to be in need of reinforcements, as a slew of injuries and the added pressure of a Europa League campaign have had a negative impact on their league form, with the Toon currently sitting just two points above the relegation zone.

The prospective addition of Remy - who joined Marseille from Nice in 2008 - would be a welcome boost to a side that have lost six of their last seven Premier League encounters, and the 25-year-old did not rule out a switch to the North-East.

He told Sky Sports: "They [Newcastle] are a very good team, they are a big club with good players, very good fans and a nice stadium that is always full.

"The window opens in January, and there will be speculation from now until the window closes - if I have to leave then all parties must be happy. I have a contract so let's wait and see what happens."
