Inter will not make January signings, says Branca

Inter director Marca Branca has made it clear that the Giuseppe Meazza side will not add to their ranks in the January transfer window.

The Nerazzurri have recently been linked with players such as Willian (Shakhtar Donetsk) and Christian Eriksen (Ajax), but they will not attempt to strengthen their squad this winter as their financial situation prevents them from spending big.

"It's not down to where we are in the table whether we will make signings in January. There are other factors to consider. At this moment in time, there's no way we'll be investing in January for other reasons," Branca told Sky Italia.

"It's the same situation in many other industry sectors. We're in an economic crisis."

Branca also had his say on Wesley Sneijder's contract situation, but he refused to confirm whether Inter have asked the Dutchman to take a pay cut.

He added: "Is it true we've asked him to take a pay cut? That's our business."

Inter currently sit second in the Serie A table, trailing leaders Juventus by four points.
