Bayern target Martinez delighted to be subject of German attention
Javi Martinez has admitted that he is enjoying basking in the attention of Bayern Munich's fans, as the Bundesliga giants prepare to tie up a deal with Athletic Bilbao for his signature.
The Euro 2012 winner has been the subject of transfer speculation linking him with a 40 million move to the Bundesliga runners-up, although the stop-start nature of the switch has led to recent pessimism whether a transfer can occur before Friday's deadlne.
Nevertheless, the 23-year-old Spain international insists that despite being flattered by the rumours, he remains unconcerned, and is just going about his daily routines as per usual.
"I know the German press and fans are very interested in who I am," Martinez enthused. "It's truly great to have so much interest from Germany."
"I cant say much else [about a transfer] though. Im just relaxed and training training, trying to stay in shape and wait for a decision. I cannot do more than that.
The versatile midfielder has amassed over 200 Primera Division appearances for Los Leones, reaching the Europa League final last season, only to see his side capitulate 3-0 to Spanish rivals Atletico Madrid.
Coach Marcelo Bielsa has opted to leave both Martinez and Juventus transfer target Fernando Llorente out of his squads for recent Liga matches.
