Zorc: Gotze is happy at Borussia Dortmund

Mario Götze and Niklas Moisander (Ajax - Borussia Dortmund)
Michael Zorc has insisted that Mario Gotze is happy with life at Borussia Dortmund and has no intention of leaving the club anytime soon.

The Germany international is continually being linked with a move away from BVB, but Zorc is confident he will stay put for the foreseeable future.

"Mario has an ongoing contract with BVB and he's feeling very well at the club and in this city. There are no signs that this will change any time soon," Zorc told Bild.

"Mario is an extraordinary player and he's still only 20. He has plenty of room for improvement."

Zorc then went on to discuss the situation of Nuri Sahin at Liverpool, and stated that a January move is out of the question for now.

"Nuri is one of ours and we're closely monitoring his situation," he continued.

"We have previously said that we might make a move if he says he only wants to play at Dortmund. We have to remain realistic, though. Nothing has changed in that regard."

The BVB director also had his say on the rumours linking Robert Lewandowski with a move away from the club.

"He is not for sale at any price this winter. We still have our own ambitions."

Lewandowski is under contract until June 2014.

Adkins: Southampton are not looking to sell Luke Shaw to Arsenal

shaw
Southampton boss Nigel Adkins insists that Luke Shaw will not be sold to Arsenal, despite reported interest in the 17-year-old.

The Gunners are rumoured to be considering a bid for the left-back in the January transfer window, but Adkins says that they are not looking to sell.

Adkins told the Daily Mail: "I think Luke gets linked every week with Arsenal, doesn't he?"

"Luke is under contract, he is playing football for us in the Premier League, which is important.

"We are not looking to let him go anywhere. If anyone wants to come in for any of our players, by all means speak to the chairman. He does the deals and all the best with that."

Villas-Boas reiterates Tottenham interest in Leandro Damiao: He'll always be on our list

UEFA Champions League, Chelsea FC v FC Shakhtar Donetsk, Willian
Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas has revealed that he is still interested in bringing Shakhtar Dontesk midfielder Willian and Internacional forward Leandro Damiao to the club.

The pair, who both featured for Brazil at international level, were linked with Spurs during the summer and Portuguese boss Villas-Boas has reinstated his admiration for the duo.

Speaking about Willian he told Lancenet: "We contacted Willian and he is one of the players in which we had an interest. I like his style but we could not reach a deal with Shakhtar in the summer.

"Shakhtar are a tough club to negotiate with; they don't need the money, they can keep their players."

Villas-Boas also had high praise for Damiao, who was one of the key players in the Brazilian team that won a Silver medal at the 2012 Olympics.

He added: "There are many good players here, we are happy, but we obviously follow the best players and youngs ters and Leandro Damiao fits in the profile.

"Leandro was spectacular at the Olympics but there are other interesting players. We are paying attention to his progress but he had injuries after the Olympics and may not have played that often.

"If he is within our reach, he'll always be in our list."

Tottenham defender Rose happy to stay on loan at Sunderland

Sunderland defender Danny Rose insists he is delighted he will remain on Wearside for the remainder of the season.

The England Under-21 left-back joined the Black Cats on loan from Tottenham back in August and has been one of his sides most impressive performers this season.

The terms of his loan agreement meant Rose was forced to sit out Saturdays 2-1 defeat against his parent club, after which Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas confirmed the player would continue his development under Martin ONeill until the summer.

Rose said: I spoke to the manager [Villas-Boas] on Saturday and asked him what was happening because I wanted to know myself.

Im very happy up north. Im close to my family, and playing every week.

I love the staff, players and management here, and Im not looking to go back south and not play.

Im settled here, so I wanted to know what was going on.

He told me the plan was to stay for the full season, and whatever happens after that is out of my hands. Then its between Sunderland and Spurs.

Rose expected to slot straight back into the Sunderland side for Wednesdays trip to Anfield to face Liverpool and the 22-year-old hopes his enforced break will have a positive impact.

The rest will do me good to a certain extent, said Rose.

You dont want to take too many days off because you lose your fitness.

But its been good to get my feet up for a few days because Ive got a sore ankle at the minute.

But hopefully I can get back in the team tomorrow, and continue the good things Ive been doing.

Redknapp: I would like to bring Joe Cole to QPR

QPR manager Harry Redknapp
Harry Redknapp has admitted he would like to bring Liverpool midfielder Joe Cole to QPR and plans to discuss a potential transfer with Brendan Rodgers.

The Hoops begin 2013 bottom of the Premier League and linked with a whole host of players and Redknapp has admitted Cole is a transfer target.

"Ive got a lot of time for Joe as a player and as a person, said Redknapp.

Id like to bring Joe here if I can but the deal would have to be right for the club.

We couldnt do a deal as it [Cole's wages] is at Liverpool. Ill have to speak to Brendan Rodgers. Well have a chat when the times right.

The former Tottenham boss has also been reported to be interested in signing Nicolas Anelka and Loic Remy but Redknapp says he is not expecting any deals to be done early in the window.

"I wouldn't have thought so," Redknapp told Sky Sports when asked whether there would be any new arrivals on New Year's Day.

"We're not doing anything really, we'll just wait and see. We've got a game tomorrow against Chelsea, then a cup game [against West Brom] and we've got a little break after that, so we'll see what happens.

"It's difficult at this time of year, it's very difficult to make signings.

"Who's going to let people go? People hold you to ransom if they know you're desperate. It's a very difficult time."

'Neymar & Messi together would be spectacular' - Ramalho

messi-neymar

Santos head coach Muricy Ramalho is of the opinion that Neymar would be most suited moving to Barcelona, and he believes Lionel Messi and the 20-year-old would be spectacular together.

The Brazil international was on the long list for the Ballon dOr, while the Blaugrana attacker is one of the final three nominees and is the favourite to win it again.

Ramalho hailed his star player as a rare talent and believes that he is destined to become a world-beating footballer in the not-too-distant future.

"He is a great player, and he will become a genius," the coach told Sport.es. "He's on the road to becoming as good as Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo - that type of player who only appears on the world stage very occasionally."

The Santos boss is adamant that Neymar would fit better at Camp Nou than Real Madrid due to the style of football that the Catalan club play.

"Barca are the team that best fit the characteristics of N eymar," Ramalho added. "Everyone likes watching their football. They are a team that plays free-flowing football.

"Today, Madrid have a great coach, but they are very tactical. [Jose] Mourinho plays rigid tactics and they must be obeyed.

"From my point of view it is difficult to do that with Neymar. Neymar cannot put in a fixed position and left there. That would be killing the boy. So, today, the ideal team for him is Barcelona.

"Great players understand each other. [Barca] have many great players and have been playing well together for a long time. Neymar would grow so much there.

"One day I'd like to see it. I'd love to see together the 'pair' [Messi & Neymar] to see what would happen. And I am sure it would be something really spectacular."
